Pain Treatments

Why DR+ clinics for pain treatments?

Over the last 15 years, Singapore Paincare clinics have helped many patients who have suffered from different chronic pain conditions. DR+ Medical & Paincare Clinic, a GP clinic brand, forms the frontline of Singapore Paincare medical group’s vision to build a comprehensive paincare ecosystem, bringing affordable primary care and pain care services to the heartland.

What are Minimally Invasive Procedures and how does it help you with your pain conditions?

Minimally invasive procedures are techniques that involve smaller incisions, less tissue disruption, and shorter recover times. We incorporate minimally invasive procedures in the form of specialised injections, to treat common chronic pain conditions as an alternative to using painkillers and open surgery.

Compared to the temporary relief offered by conventional physical therapies, our pain treatment approaches provide sustainable and effective solutions. By addressing the root causes of pain with minimally invasive procedures, we aim to minimise the need for long-term reliance on painkillers and reduce the risks associated with traditional open surgeries. We prioritise safer, cost-effective, and minimally invasive treatments that prioritise our patients’ well-being and comfort.

How are we different from other GPs who may also use specialised pain injections?

Our DR+ Pain Care GPs are trained to apply a proprietary roadmap for specialised pain treatment. Every GP is trained under Singapore Paincare Academy, led by Senior Consultant Pain Specialist Dr Bernard Lee, where they acquire skills to perform specialised injections and other procedures to bring effective pain relief to patients.

What are the different minimally invasive procedures and how do they help with pain conditions?

Our proprietary know-how from pain assessments, diagnosing pain conditions and reaching a pain treatment roadmap has allowed us to provide on average 70% improvement from the original pain; with some patients’ pain completely relieved. As each patient’s pain condition is unique, results may differ and amount of pain relief will vary depending on the condition type and chronicity level.

Coreflex injections and PRP are generally safe for all. For PRP, as the injection is taken from patient’s own blood made up of your own cells and plasma, the risk of an allergic reaction is very low.

How quickly can patients expect relief after treatment?

Pain relief effect starts immediately after treatment due to local anaesthetic. Some pain may come back in the next 1-2 days when local anaesthetic wears off but patient should feel lesser pain than before. Pain relief results will be most noticeable starting from 1st week to 3rd week after treatment.

What to expect during minimally invasive pain treatment?

Our minimally invasive procedure involves injecting of pain medication at painful areas, to reach the pain source/generator. Depending on the pain condition, different injections may be utilised to either remove the pain generator or stop the pain signals.

Coreflex injections can be given in a doctor’s clinic and usually take just a few minutes. Several sites may be injected in one visit. Patients will be observed before they are allowed to go home.

Is there any downtime for minimally invasive procedure?

There is no downtime. Normal activities can resume immediately the next day. Patients may experience temporary swelling, numbness and pain around the injection site for 2-3 days but the discomfort should resolve by itself after that.

How long will the effect of Coreflex Injection last?

The duration of pain relief can vary among individuals, with many patients experiencing significant and long-lasting relief. On average, the effect may last anywhere from six months to a year. While the effect may be permanent in most patients, some may need repeated treatment. The injections may be repeated every four months, with a maximum of three injections per year.
